When planning a trip to Cabo, you should be prepared for luxury, fun, and time dedicated to yourself or loved ones. When going down the path of telling friends or family that you’re planning a trip to Cabo, they will immediately be in the vacationing spirit. But there is work to do – the airport! Sure, some might think it’s not so important to prepare for the airport’s overall experience. “After all, I just want to get through it as quickly as possible so I can get to my resort and start soaking up the sun!”…Just remember, you need to make it through customs first.
The Cabo airport is nothing to be afraid of. It’s certainly better than most other airport experiences you’ll have internationally. This means that if you have time, you can be happy and content once you get there. Being prepared and knowing exactly what you need to do before arriving at the airport will help you achieve this. Be prepared with your passport, your customs sheet and leave yourself a little extra time, travel is back in a big way for 2022 and you’re bound to find some lines.
The San Jose del Cabo International Airport or, the Los Cabos Airport, code is SJD, and is located in the state of Baja California Sur, Mexico. The San Jose Del Cabo Airport is likely where you will be destined if you’re flying into Los Cabos internationally. SJD is about an 8 mile drive from San Jose Del Cabo and approximately 30 miles away from Cabo San Lucas.
SJD is a rather small airport compared to others. There is only one floor for departures and arrivals, making navigation easy. When traveling through most airports, there are ticketing agents at the entrance who guide travelers toward their boarding gate. Once you have made it through customs and retrieved your bags, you simply make your way through the sliding doors and walk out into the Mexican sun. There is a small bar just outside where you can wait for your transportation to arrive.
You’ve made it out of the airport and now you need to get to your resort, or your luxury property in Los Cabos (or to the nearest bar for a cerveza!) How do you get transportation out of the airport? Luckily there is no shortage of options. Listed below are a few safe bets!
Overall, getting transportation out of Cabo International Airport should prove to be no problem. The real question is which option will work best for you and your traveling party. Fortunately, there are several different choices to choose from, and some of them may save you a lot of money in the process.
While the airport experience in Cabo is definitely different than many others, that can be both a good thing and a bad thing. Overall, the airport is pleasant enough, with clean facilities and accommodating staff. However, if you find yourself in need of something to do while you wait, there isn’t a great deal to do. The food options are limited, and there aren’t many opportunities for shopping. Still, this is more a minor inconvenience than an overall deal breaking factor — your time in the lobby could still be spent soaking in the luxury of the resort you’re about to visit, or you could revel in anticipation for what’s to come once you arrive.
